FLAME PLATFORM AT IBC – SETTING THE FUTURE ZONE ALIGHT!

FLAME partners showcased the FLAME Platform at the International Broadcasting Conference (IBC) 2019 in Amsterdam Friday 13 September, to Tuesday 17 September.

The FLAME booth showcased innovative FLAME media service use-cases for participative media services by ETH Zurich and DisneyResearch|Studios. Visitors literally got their hands on the technology using tablets to experience Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) localised storytelling and exciting urban gaming.

The team presented the FLAME platform features of edge computing capabilities through a compute and storage cloud infrastructure with a routing and transport network level. A model of the 5G UK Test Network in Millennium Square, Bristol was on display demonstrating two use cases of the FLAME Platform to the media world participants of the conference.

Also on show was a video of the Hackathon event held in the city of Bristol earlier this year, showing experiments deployed at Millennium Square in the city centre, involving members of the public. Visitors to the FLAME booth showed interest in the FLAME platform and expressed the relevance to their own business cases.

In addition, the current and Third Open Call for the FLAME platform was promoted. This call solicits for third party projects to explore edge experiences considering consumer’s desire for personalised, localised and interactive media content delivered through current and emerging human-computer interfaces used in outside spaces or between outside and inside spaces.

Submission of draft proposals deadline for the feasibility check, 10 October, 2019 and Final Submission deadline, 8 November, 2019.
